About:
Zoe Dunlop is an artist based in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia where she has lived and worked since 2021, after moving from central Alberta where she was born and raised. Zoe graduated from the University of Alberta in 2018 where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art and Design. In her current practice, she predominantly utilizes the medium of watercolour in a saturated and multi-layered approach.
Through her painting, Dunlop is interested in exploring the inextricable connections between humanity, time, and the stories we tell and are told. Using figurative elements in juxtaposition with primarily abstract environments, the work looks to reframe portraiture as glimpse into the complexity of the human person, and the spiritual and temporal powers that shape our concept of self.
